n Order to pass the UPSC Exam in two years you can start by knowing the exam pattern. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Exam each year and this exam is conducted in 3 stages:The Paper I examines you on General Studies and the exam Paper II is of Aptitude. The way you have fared in the Exam Paper I will decide whether you will be appear for the Mains examination or not. The Paper II marks are NOT added up for the final merit of the Civil Services Preliminary Examination and it is only of qualifying nature.

Stage 2: Main Examination (Also known as Mains)
The UPSC IAS Main Exam consists of written examination. It consists of 9 conventional essay type papers i.e descriptive type paper.
Stage 3: Personal Interview
If you clear the first two stages you will then appear in the interview. The candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in the Main Examination (set by the commission at their discretion) will then be called for a personal interview to test their Personality.

Once you know the IAS Exam pattern the next important task is to check the syllabus of the different subjects for the Civil Services examination. You will be able to find the syllabus of the IAS exam on the official IAS exam website.
After you have noted down the syllabus divide the time you have to prepare for the exam among the subjects and there topics. You can allot more time to the subjects and topics which you think are tough and less time to the ones you are good in. And promise yourself to stick to the timings.
Daily study is a must, don’t give yourself any excuses to skip studying on any day, as you have allotted a particular topics to a day which if you do not complete on that day itself it will affect the entire plan. You should also incorporate the habit of reading a newspaper in your daily schedule as this will keep you updated with all the happenings around you and in this way will help you in the GK & current affairs section.
